
The Indian Army will participate in multinational military drills named 'Shantir Ogroshena' in Bangladesh to commemorate the birth centenary of Bangladesh’s 'Father of the Nation' Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and 50 years of the country's liberation.
The joint military exercise with the neighbouring countries will be held from April 4 to 21.
Besides India and Bangladesh, armies of Bhutan and Sri Lanka will also participate in the exercise while observers from the United States, United Kingdom, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Singapore will also be attending the exercise.
"Multinational Military Exercise Shantir Ogroshena 2021 (Front Runner of the Peace) will be held in Bangladesh. An Indian Army contingent comprising of 30 personnel, including officers, JCOs and jawans of a battalion from the Dogra regiment, will participate in the exercise along with contingents of Royal Bhutan Army, Sri Lankan Army and Bangladesh Army," the Indian Army said in a statement.
The theme of the exercise is 'Robust Peace-Keeping Operations'.
To commemorate 50 years of the Bangladesh war and the Swarnim Vijay Varsh, a military contingent of the Bangladesh armed forces had also participated in the Republic Day parade in New Delhi on January 26.
