India, Kazakh soldiers to engage in anti-terror exercises

The Indian Army will be represented by a battalion of The Bihar Regiment comprising 90 personnel led by a Contingent Commander. The Kazakhstan Army will be represented by a company group.

The armies of India and Kazakhstan will hold their fifth edition of joint training exercise KAZIND-21 at Aisha Bibi Training Node in Kazakhstan from August 30. 

The Indian Army will be represented by a battalion of The Bihar Regiment comprising 90 personnel led by a Contingent Commander. 

The exercise, which is aimed at strengthening strategic relations with Kazakhstan, will provide an opportunity for the armed forces from both countries to train for counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism operations in mountainous and rural scenarios. 

The joint exercise will include planning and execution of counter-terror operations at the sub-unit level and sharing expertise on skills at arms, combat shooting and experiences. 

The exercise will conclude with a 48-hour long validation exercise that will involve a scenario of eliminating terrorists in a semi-rural hideout. The aim of the exercise is to further strengthen mutual confidence, interoperability and enable sharing of best practices between the forces.
