Terming India's attitude in border talks as opportunistic, the Chinese government mouthpiece Global Times has asked its government to be prepared for military action in the case of a deteriorating situation along the borders.

The Global Times editorial comes after the 13th round of military between India and China talk failed on Sunday.

The country's mouthpiece has always been accusing the Indian Army of altering the status quo in eastern Ladakh when in reality it was the Chinese People's Liberation Army that unilaterally tried to change the status quo.

Just a day after the failed talks, China’s PLA has started putting their tank regiments through their paces near the Indian border.

As per the Chinese state media CCTV, the PLA has been actively improving its high-altitude tank battle capabilities.

Urging the Chinese PLA not to cede their border to India, the Global Times claimed that India is still sleepwalking on the border issue.

"We can wait for it to wake up," the Chinese government mouthpiece said.

The editorial also alleged that India wants to take advantage of deteriorating China-US relations. It said that New Delhi sees this as an opportunity to gain key strategic bargaining chips.

On the border talks, it alleged that India always makes unrealistic demands that are not in line with the real situation or its strength.

Earlier today, the Indian Army, in a statement, accused the Chinese side of not agreed to its proposals for an amicable resolution of the remaining issues pertaining to the Line of Actual Control.

It also said the Chinese delegates did not provide any forward-looking measures to ensure peace and tranquillity along the LAC.

The two armies have been engaged in a border standoff for the last 17 months. The two countries have had dialogue at different levels. The military confrontation took place up in June last year when 15 Indian troops were killed while China also suffered massive casualties. However, it has officially accepted only four.
