EC full bench likely to visit West Bengal on March 23

The full bench of the Election Commission of India is likely to visit West Bengal on March 23 to check the preparedness for the assembly elections in the state.

An official of the commission said, “The full bench of the ECI is likely to visit West Bengal on March 23 to supervise poll preparations. They will hold meetings with senior officials of the state administration.”

“A total of 172 nominees will contest the elections in the second phase,” the official added.

The first phase of election will be held in Purulia, Bankura, Jhargram, East Medinipur (Part I) and West Medinipur (Part I).

The second phase of polling will be held in Bankura (Part II), East Medinipur (Part II), West Medinipur (Part II) and South 24 Parganas (Part I).

Legislative Assembly elections for 294 seats of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly are scheduled to be held between 27 March to 29 April 2021 in 8 phases.
