Another jolt for Congress: Vijayashanti to join BJP on Monday

Actor Vijayashanti has followed in the footsteps of fellow South Indian actor Kushbu and resigned from the Congress and is all set to join the BJP on Monday.

After resigning, Vijayashanti met Union Minister of State for Home G Kishen Reddy and BJP Telangana President Bandi Sanjay Kumar in Delhi.

Vijayashanti is expected to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah before formally joining the BJP around noon tomorrow.

Vijayashanthi had joined the Congress in 2014 after parting ways with the Telangana  Rashtra Samithi. She was closely associated with TRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao
during Telangana statehood movement.

She was an MP from Medak after she contested on a TRS ticket and represented the constituency between 2009-2014. In the past few months, the former MP was not active in Congress party's activities and programmes in the state.
