Twitter red-flagged Malviya's post from November 28 in which he called out Rahul Gandhi as the "the most discredited opposition leader India has seen in a long long time", while calling the video of a farmer being lathicharged as propaganda.
Twitter branded the post as 'manipulated media'. As per Twitter policy, the tag is placed if 'the media, or the context in which media are presented, are significantly and deceptively altered or manipulated'.
The 'manipulated media' tag if media depicting a real person has been fabricated or simulated or if the content has been substantially edited in a manner that fundamentally alters its composition, sequence, timing, or framing.
Malviya had sought to take on opposition parties' claims that a security forces personnel had assaulted an elderly Sikh farmer during the ongoing protest against the farm laws. The photo of security forces personnel attempting to hit an elderly farmer had gone viral. Malviya had posted a video to establish that the man in uniform was merely trying to intimidate the farmer and had not hit him. Asianet Newsable's attempts to reach out to Amit Malviya ot Twitter india officials have thus far met with no response.
