India logs single-day rise in COVID-19 cases with 1,32,788 new infections; 3,207 deaths in 24 hours

After reporting its lowest daily rise in new Covid cases since April 8, India reported a slight increase in cases on Wednesday.
 

India has registered 1,32,788 new cases and 3,207 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to the Union Home Ministry. India is witnessing a steady decline in fresh coronavirus cases.

According to the Union Health Ministry data released at 9 am this morning, at least 2,31,456 people were discharged during this period, taking the total tally to 2,61,79,085 patients who have been discharged so far.

The country also reported 3,207 Covid-19 linked fatalities during the last 24 hours, the Health Ministry data said. With this, the total death count now stands at 3,35,102.

India's active caseload stands at 17,93,645. In the last 24 hours, active cases declined by 1,01,875.

India's Covid-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16. It went past 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, crossed 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20 and surpassed the one-crore mark on December 19. India crossed the grim milestone of 2 crore on May 4.

As many as 35,00,57,330 samples have been tested for Covid-19 till 1 June, of which 20,19,773 samples were tested on Tuesday, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said.
