IAF slams use of uniform and abuse in Netflix India's 'AK vs AK'

The Indian Air Force has taken exception to the force's uniform being misrepresented and language used by an "officer" in the upcoming Netflix India thriller 'AK vs AK'.  

The IAF has asked the makers to remove certain scenes from the scheduled release on December 24.

In a tweet, the IAF said: "The IAF uniform in this video is inaccurately donned and the language used is inappropriate. This does not conform to the behavioural norms of those in the Armed Forces of India. The related scenes need to be withdrawn."

The controversy has once again brought to the fore the issue of creative liberties taken by OTT platform filmmakers at the expense of the armed forces.

At the centre of the controversy is the first trailer for Vikramaditya Motwane's AK vs AK, which pits filmmaker Anurag Kashyap against Anil Kapoor in a clash of egos.

The trailer begins with Anurag and Anil at a event where they end up have a bad spat. Later, Anurag is seen proposing the idea of a film, shot in real time. 

Anil will have to find his kidnapped daughter, actor Sonam Kapoor, jumping through multiple hurdles in just 10 hours. He is not allowed to contact the police or taking anybody’s help to find her.

Even before the trailer launch, Anil and Anurag were engaged in a promotional and manufactured argument on social media.
