Here is what leaders had to say when after their meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence on the road ahead for Jammu and Kashmir.

Amit Shah, Union Home Minister* "Today's meeting on Jammu and Kashmir was conducted in a very cordial environment. Everyone expressed their commitment to democracy and the constitution. It was stressed to strengthen the democratic process in Jammu and Kashmir."* "We are committed to ensuring all-round development of J&K. The future of Jammu and Kashmir was discussed, and the delimitation exercise and peaceful elections are important milestones in restoring statehood as promised in Parliament."

Farooq Abdullah, National Conference patron* There is a loss of trust which needs to be restored immediately, and for that, to begin with, the Centre should work for the restoration of complete statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. National Conference would continue to challenge through legal and constitutional means the abrogation of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370 of the Constitution.* Informed the prime minister that statehood means reverting even the IAS and IPS cadres of Jammu and Kashmir. The state has to be in totality.

Mehbooba Mufti, People Democratic Party* People of J&K are facing many difficulties since August 5, 2019. They are emotionally shattered, angry and feel humiliated. People of J&K do not accept the manner in which Article 370 was abrogated unconstitutionally, immorally and illegally.

Omar Abdullah, National Conference* Party told Prime Minister Modi that it does not stand with what was done on August 5, 2019. NC is not willing to accept it. The party will not take the law into its hands but will fight this in court.* Party told Prime Minster Modi there had been a breach of trust between Centre and the state and that it was the former's duty to restore it. People want full statehood for J&K with the J&K cadre restored.

Muzaffar Hussain Baig, People's Conference* Party told Prime Minister that he would do everything to make Jammu and Kashmir a zone of peace rather than conflict.* "All leaders demanded statehood. PM said that the delimitation process should be completed first before other issues are addressed. There was unanimity for restoring peace in Jammu and Kashmir."

Ghulam Nabi Azad, Congress* Congress kept five demands before the Prime Minister -- Granting statehood immediately, the release of all political detainees, conducting assembly elections to restore democracy, rehabilitating Kashmiri Pandits, and revisiting domicile rules.
