Coronavirus: India sees decline in active cases as tally dips to 4.5 lakh, recovery rate improves to 97.17%

India reported 43,393 new cases in last 24 hours on Friday. 911 deaths were also reported due to the coronavirus in last 24 hours.

India reported 43,393 new cases and 911 more deaths due to the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) on Friday, taking the caseload and death toll to 30,752,950 and 405,939 respectively, according to the Union health ministry’s update at 8am.

Active cases have declined to 4,58,727 and constitute 1.50% of the caseload. Thursday’s count of cases was slightly lower than that of Wednesday, when 45,892 cases were reported.

As many as 44,459 people recovered on Thursday, taking the cumulative recoveries to 29,888,284. The recovery rate has improved to 97.19%.

India has tested 42,70,16,605 samples for Covid-19 until now, according to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). Out of these, 17,90,708 samples were tested on Wednesday, as compared to 18,93,800 tests conducted in the previous 24-hour period.

The country has so far administered 36,89,91,222 anti-Covid jabs.
