Coronavirus: India reports highest single-day rise in six months with 81,466 new COVID-19 cases

India reported 81,466 new Covid-19 cases and 469 coronavirus-related deaths on Friday, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said. The fresh cases pushed the country's tally to 1,23,03,131.

India saw 81,466 new coronavirus infections being reported in a span of 24 hours, the highest single-day rise so far this year, taking the Covid-19 tally of cases to 1,23,03,131, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Thursday.

With 469 more corona patients succumbing in the last 24 hours, the fatality count mounted to 1,63,396.

The active cases have increased to 6,14,696 comprising 4.99% of the total infections, while the recovery rate has further dropped to 93.67%, the data stated.

The cumulative number of Covid-19 vaccine doses administered in the country crossed 6.75 crore on Thursday. A total of 6,75,36,392 vaccine doses were administered, as per the provisional report till 8 pm on April 1.

As per the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 24,59,12,587 samples have been tested up to April 1.
