Coronavirus: India reports biggest ever single-day spike with 1,45,384 new cases, active cases go past 10 lakh

India now has more active cases of the coronavirus than at any other time since the beginning of the pandemic. The country's active case count crossed the 1-million mark before settling to an all-time high of around 10,46,000 on Friday, even as fresh cases surged to another new peak of over 1.45 lakh.

India added 1,45,384 new Covid-19 cases, taking the national tally to 1,32,05,926, as per the Union Health Ministry.

The active caseload went past the 10 lakh-mark and stood at 10,46,631. The number of active cases in the country is now at its highest level since the outbreak of pandemic.

Ten states including Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Rajasthan have shown a rise in the Covid case.

The country's recoveries stand at 1,19,90,859.

According to ICMR, the total number of samples tested up to April 9 is 25,52,14,803 including 11,73,219 samples tested.
