Coronavirus: India reports 1,96,427 new COVID-19 cases, lowest in 41 days; recovery rate rises to 89.26%

India reports 1,96,427 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the country's Covid tally to 2,69,48,874. With 3,511 deaths, India's death toll due to the virus stands at 3,07,231.
 

Marking the lowest single-day increase since April 14, India has reported less than 2 lakh Covid-19 cases. In the last 24 hours, 1,96,427 new cases were added, taking the total count to 2,69,48,874.
As per data from the Health Ministry, India reported 1,96,427 new cases and 3,511 deaths in the last 24 hours. At the same time, 3,26,850 people were discharged.

The positivity rate has fallen to a nearly two-month low of 9.54%, as per the data shared by the Union Health Ministry.
Recoveries continue to remain above 3 lakh for the 24th straight day as 3,26,850 people were discharged from the hospital. The number of people who have recuperated so far stood at 2,40,54,861. The recovery rate rose to 89.26%, the data updated at 8 am showed.
Top five states which registered maximum cases are Tamil Nadu with 34,867 cases, followed by Karnataka with 25,311 cases, Maharashtra with 22,122 cases, West Bengal with 17,883 cases and Kerala with 17,821 cases.
A total of 20,58,112 tests were conducted in a span of 24 hours in the country and cumulatively 33,25,94,176 tests have been done so far.
