Coronavirus: India records over 3.82 lakh new COVID-19 cases; 3,780 daily deaths

 As many as five states reported their highest daily fatalities on Tuesday, as India saw another 3,460 Covid deaths.

India recorded a single-day rise of 3,82,315 new coronavirus infections pushing the total tally of Covid-19 cases to 2,06,65,148, according to the Union Health Ministry data on Wednesday.

It is the 14th straight day when India recorded more than three lakh cases while over 3,000 casualties have been reported for the past eight days.

With fresh infections, the total active coronavirus cases in the country has mounted to 34,87,229, according to the data released by the Union Health Ministry of Family and Welfare on Wednesday morning.

Meanwhile, 3,780 more people succumbed to the infection in the last 24 hours, taking the nationwide toll to 2,26,188. This is the highest Covid daily toll India reported since the pandemic began. The maximum casualties were reported in Maharashtra (891), followed by Uttar Pradesh with 351 daily deaths.

The country also witnessed as many as 3,38,439 recoveries taking the cumulative recoveries to 1,69,51,731.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), as many as 29,48,52,078 samples have been tested for Covid-19 up to May 3 of which 15,41,299 samples were tested on Tuesday.

The total doses of the Covid-19 vaccine administered stand at over 16,04,94,188, informed the health ministry.
