Coronavirus: India clocks 34,457 new cases; recovery rate at 97.54%, highest since March 2020

 India reported 34,457 new cases and 375 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to the Union Health Ministry data.

India logged 34,457 new coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, taking the tally to 32,393,286 according to the Union Health Ministry's data. While the death toll climbed to 4,33,964 with 375 fresh fatalities.
 

In the last 24 hours, active cases decreased by 12,101 as the cumulative caseload declined to 3,61,340, the 8 am data showed.

Meanwhile, 36,830 patients were discharged in the last 24 hours, taking the national recovery rate to 97.54%, the highest since March 2020, according to the Union Health Ministry data.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) data, 50,42,63,687 samples have been tested up to August 19 for Covid-19. Of these 15,63,985 samples were tested on Friday.

A total of 57.22 crore Covid-19 vaccine doses have been administered so far, of which 88,13,919 doses were administered in the last 24 hours.
