Basin trials are conducted to test the ship's propulsion, transmission and shafting systems. The next stage is the most crucial sea trial. Construction is progressing with the goal of commissioning next year. Vikrant is designed to enable take-off and landing of various aircraft. It can also land about a dozen Rotary Wing aircraft, including the American MH-60R, Kamov K-31 and Sea King.
