Kamaraj Nagar MLA John Kumar tendered his resignation today. With this, the strength of the Congress party in the 30-member House has come down to 10.

With this, the number of MLAs who have resigned from the Congress so far now stands at four.

The setback comes a day before Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to visit the Union Territory.

Just yesterday, senior leader and Yanam MLA Malladi Krishna Rao had resigned weeks after former PWD Minister A Namassivayam and ETheeppainjan on January 25. 

Another Congress leader N Dhanavelu was disqualified in July last year for alleged anti-party activities. 

Sources say Chief Minister Narayanasamy will have no option but to resign despite the support of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam's three MLAs.
