Pro Kabaddi League 2022: Season 9 starts October 7; to be held in Bengaluru, Pune, Hyderabad

The ninth edition of the Pro Kabaddi League is all set to get underway from October 7 and will be played across three cities: Bengaluru, Pune and Hyderabad. Dabang Delhi is the defending champion.

The 2022 Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) will be the ninth season of the world’s premier domestic kabaddi competition. It is all set to get underway from October 7. The opening half of the tournament will be held at the Shree Kanteerava Indoor Stadium in Bengaluru before moving to Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Pune on October 28, followed by Hyderabad. According to PKL organisers Mashal Sports, there will be triple headers on the opening three days of the competition. As per the schedule, 66 matches have been scheduled so far, while 12 sides would be playing their opening games within the first couple of days.

Also, triple headers would be held every Saturday and Sunday throughout the group stage. In the opening match, defending champion Dabang Delhi would square off against U-Mumba, followed by Bengaluru Bulls vs Telugu Titans and UP Yoddhas vs Jaipur Pink Panthers. The fixtures for the event’s second half will be released at the end of next month, allowing the sides to assess and rebuild their strategies.

PKL Commissioner Anupam Goswami said in a statement, “PKL Season 9 is set to bring the action of the best kabaddi in the world before Indian sports lovers across the three cities of Bangalore, Pune, and Hyderabad. As with each previous PKL season, Season 9 will set strong benchmarks by the League and its broadcast partner, as well as our 12 teams, to continue the growth of kabaddi in India for in-stadia and on-screen kabaddi fans.”
