ICC World Test Championship: The Oval and Lord's to host final in 2023 and 2025

The ICC World Test Championship 2021-23 is currently on. Meanwhile, the final venues for the subsequent two editions have been confirmed. While The Oval's will conduct it next year, the 2025 edition will be held at Lord's.

The ICC World Test Championship has been a massive step toward maintaining the integrity of the game's longest format. The move by the International Cricket Council (ICC) has made the format more competitive, while cricketers and fans have started taking Test cricket seriously. The inaugural edition was held between 2019-21, with New Zealand being crowned the champion of the maiden edition. The next edition of it is currently ongoing, as the final of the same will be held next year, while the following edition will run between 2023-25. Meanwhile, the ICC has confirmed the venues for the final of these two editions.

The Oval in London, aka the Home of Cricket, will be hosting the final of the ongoing edition next year. As for the 2023-25 edition's final, the iconic Lord's in the same English city would be hosting the final in 2025. It was scheduled to host the final of the last edition. However, due to COVID limitations, the summit clash was shifted to the Rose Bowl Stadium in Southampton.

Confirming the same, ICC CEO Geoff Allardice said in a statement, "We are delighted to be hosting next year's ICC World Test Championship Final at The Oval, which has such a rich legacy and an amazing atmosphere, which is ideal for such an important fixture on the calendar. Following that, we will take the 2025 Final to Lord's, providing a fitting backdrop to the ultimate Test."
