Argentine superstar Lionel Messi is already one of the topmost goal scorers in world football, while he is also considered one of the greatest modern-day footballers. He continues to break and script countless records in both club and international football.

Meanwhile, Messi has scripted another record, becoming the joint fifth-most goal-scorer in international football, along with Godfrey Chitalu. During the FIFA World Cup qualifiers this week against Bolivia, he attained the same when he scored a hat-trick in the 3-0 win.

As a result, Messi has also become the highest international goal-scorer from South America, overtaking Pele (77). It was also his seventh hat-trick for the side.

Following the same, Messi said that he was really anxious moving into the game and wanted to enjoy it to the fullest. Considering the record, he said that he had waited long for it and had even dreamt about it for a long time, besides terming it as a unique moment that came after such a long time.

Meanwhile, the match against Bolivia turned out to be even unique, as fans were allowed inside the Monumental stadium in Buenos Aires. It was the first time they were allowed inside the venues since the COVID-19 pandemic came into effect.
