The Indian sports fraternity is aiming to give its best performance in the Tokyo Olympics. The global competition is set to get underway from July 23, with more than 100 Indian athletes participating in various events.

Although it is still doubtful if the competition would happen due to the challenges faced by the organisers due to the prevailing pandemic, the Indian Olympic Association is willing to send its contingent. However, it has made it clear that the entire unit would be vaccinated thoroughly before departure to Tokyo.

Meanwhile, in a fresh update, IOA president Narinder Batra has stated that the athletes would receive their second vaccine dose four weeks after the first, while the Indian Health Ministry has approved the same. "Letter has been issued by Ministry of Health Government of India, that in the case of Tokyo Bound Athletes and officials, the second dose of vaccination will be done after four weeks of 1st dose of vaccination," he said in a statement.

As of now, 100 athletes have already sealed their berth for Tokyo.
