Roger Federer is one of the modern-day legends of tennis. While he celebrates his 40th birthday, we look at five of the top records he holds in the sport.

When it comes to Roger Federer, everyone recognises him as the greatest player to play the sport of tennis ever. Having won record 20 Grand Slams, he has set an example apart and made way for other top athletes like Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic.

While he is at the twilight phase of his career, he can still have one last hurrah. As he celebrates his 40th birthday on Sunday, we present five of the top records he holds in the sport.

Most successive Slam finals
In one of his most outstanding standalone records, he has played the most successive Slam finals. Between 2005-07, he played ten Slam finals consecutively, a feat that is extremely difficult to replicate in today's date.

Longest as world number one for consecutive weeks
Although he might not be the world number one now, there was a time when he was the undisputed leader on the top. He stayed at the number one spot in the ATP Singles ranking for 237 consecutive weeks between February 2004 to August 2008, a feat that is difficult to be matched by any, while he holds the Guinness World Record for the same.

Most Slam matches wins
In another excellent record held by the Swiss king, he has also won many Slam singles matches. Federer holds the record of having won 369 Slam singles matches and would still take some time to be beaten by any.

Most singles matches win at ATP Finals
Not just Slams, but Federer also has won the most singles matches at the ATP Finals. To date, he has won 59 singles matches at the event.

Oldest player to be ranked number one
In yet another significant record held by Federer, he happens to be the oldest player to be ranked world number one to date. On June 24, 2018, he was ranked world number one for the last time while being aged 36 years and 320 days.
