Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Set For Another Record-Breaking Spree

The Rajasthan Royals (RR) batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has continued to captivate the fans and cricketing world with his fearless strokeplay, aggressive batting, and remarkable consistency at the top of the order, making him one of the standout performers of the IPL 2026.

Since his debut IPL season in 2025, Sooryavanshi has shattered several records, including the young T20 centurion, the fastest Indian to score an IPL century, the quickest to 500 IPL runs and 1000 T20 runs, and most sixes by an Indian batter in a single IPL season, showcasing his explosive impact and rapid rise in world cricket.

In the clash against Punjab Kings, Sooryavanshi’s quickfire 43-run knock helped him reach the 400-run mark this season, making him the first teenage player to achieve this feat in a single IPL season.

As Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has already set the benchmark with explosive batting and records, the teen batting sensation can shatter five more major milestones this season if he maintains his current form and consistency at the top of the order.

1. Most Runs by an Uncapped Player

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has completed his first 400-run mark as an uncapped player in the ongoing IPL season, and is now on course to challenge the record for most runs by an uncapped batter in a single edition.

Currently, Sooryavanshi’s RR teammate and opener Yashasvi Jaiswal holds the record for the most runs by an uncapped player in an IPL season, amassing 625 runs in 2023. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is 125 runs short of surpassing Jaiswal’s tally and will aim to break the milestone in the remaining matches of IPL 2026.

With 400 runs in just 9 matches, Sooryavanshi appears to be well on track to mount a serious challenge for the record, showcasing strong form, explosiveness, and consistency at the top of the order.

2. Most Sixes in an IPL Season

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has already smashed 37 sixes, the most by a batter in the ongoing IPL season. In fact, no batter apart from Sooryavanshi has hit 30 or more maximums this season, highlighting his explosive hitting ability and dominance over bowlers in the powerplay and middle overs.

The legendary West Indies batter, Chris Gayle, who played for Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and Kings XI Punjab, holds the record for the most sixes in a single IPL season, 59 maximums in the 2012 edition of the tournament. Gayle and Andre Russell are the only batters to hit 50 or more sixes in a single season.

With 37 sixes already in just nine matches, meaning he is averaging over 4 sixes per game, Sooryavanshi is well within striking distance of challenging Chris Gayle’s record if he maintains his current explosive strike rate in the remainder of the season.

3. Youngest Player to Win Orange Cap

Even at the age of 15, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has emerged as one of the strong contenders to win the Orange Cap this season. Being the first batter to cross the 400-run mark in the ongoing IPL season, the teen sensation has put himself in a position to script a historic feat.

The current CSK captain, Ruturaj Gaikwad, holds the distinction of being the youngest player to win the Orange Cap in the history of IPL, achieving the feat at the age of 24 when he amassed 635 runs in IPL 2021. Sooryavanshi, at just 15, could surpass Gaikwad if he continues his form and becomes the youngest Orange Cap winner in IPL history.

Since no teen player has won the Orange Cap in IPL, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has a rare chance to create history and set a new benchmark if he maintains his current explosive form.

4. Most Runs Scored Through Boundaries

Out of 400 runs scored so far, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has aggregated 358 runs through 37 sixes and 34 fours, meaning around 89.5% of his total runs have come through boundaries, highlighting his ultra-aggressive and high-impact batting style this season.

Jos Buttler currently holds the record for most runs scored in boundaries in a single IPL season, scoring 582 runs through 83 fours and 45 sixes out of 863 runs in IPL 2022. Which means, Buttler, who played for the Rajasthan Royals that season, had around 67.4% of his total runs coming from boundaries

To overtake Jos Butter’s record of 582 runs in boundaries in a single IPL season, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi needs to aggregate at least 223 more boundary runs, provided he maintains his current explosive strike rate and consistency.

5. Fastest to 100 T20 Sixes

At the age of just 15, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has already smashed 99 sixes in his T20 career, 61 of which have come in the IPL, and is now just one big hit away from reaching the landmark of 100 T20 sixes in record time.

Former Mumbai Indians all-rounder Kieron Pollard holds the record for the fastest to 100 sixes in T20 cricket history, achieving the feat in 843 balls. Sooryavanshi already has 99 T20 sixes in just 511 balls, putting him on track to potentially break Pollard’s record, reaching the milestone in fewer deliveries than any player in T20 history.

Moreover, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is on the verge of becoming the youngest player to complete 100 T20 sixes, a milestone that would further underline his rapid rise as one of the most explosive young batters in world cricket.
