"It is not enough to show your love towards plants on World Environment Day, it should be a routine," said BBMP mayor Gangambike Mallikarjun. The project of planting 1,75,000 saplings in the rainy season will be kickstarted soon, she said. Speaking on the occasion of World Environment Day, former mayor Manjunath Reddy said the BBMP-owned nursery has 2.50 lakh plants. So far, BBMP has distributed 6.50 lakh saplings for free. Measures are being taken to count the trees in 198 wards.
