ISL 2020-21: Mumbai City FC completes season double over ATK Mohun Bagan to claim League Winners Shield

This was Mumbai City FC's 12th win of the Indian Super League 2020-21, as along with four draws and losses each, it has finished atop the table. Meanwhile, ATK Mohun Bagan has produced similar results but has finished second, falling behind on goal difference.

ATK Mohun Bagan succumbed to Mumbai City FC twice during the 2020-21 Indian Super League, suffering yet another loss (2-0) at the GMC Stadium in Goa on Sunday. Following this, ATKMB has finished second, while City has claimed the top spot, thus winning the League Winners Shield and sealing its berth in the AFC Champions League.

The opening half saw three attacks until the fourth minute, including a save from Mumbai goalkeeper Amrinder Singh. However, a couple of minutes later, Mourtada Fall handed City the opening lead with his header to the bottom-left, from the right flank, thanks to Ahmed Jahouh's free-kick assist.

Five more attempts followed until the 38th minute, while City's Hernán hit the bar. Nonetheless, the exact minute saw Bartholomew Ogbeche double it for the side, with his header to the top-centre from a similar position, through a free-kick. While five more attacks were ventured, it was City who led at half-time.

The second half saw 12 attempts, including a Prabir Das's effort to pull one back for ATKMB, hit the crossbar, while Amrinder denied another. Eventually, City held on to the lead until the full-time whistle and walked away with the League Winners Shield.

As for the next game, City would be up against fourth-placed FC Goa in the semi-final opening leg on Friday. Meanwhile, ATKMB plays third-placed NorthEast United FC in the first leg of the same on Saturday.
