West Bengal minister Jakir Hossain and 10 TMC workers injured in crude bomb attack

West Bengal’s deputy labour minister Jakir Hossain and 10 Trinamool Congress workers were severely injured after a crude bomb was hurled at them by unidentified miscreants at Nimtita railway station of West Bengal's Murshidabad district on Wednesday (February 17) night.
 

According to police sources, the minister and the TMC workers was attacked while they were waiting at platform no 2 to board the Calcutta-bound New Alipurduar-Sealdah Teesta Torsa Express around 10pm.

Jakir Hossain has been admitted to Jangipur subdivisional hospital. Doctors are trying to treat injuries to the legs and the left hand of the minister.

A senior police officer said, “We have started an investigation. A large police contingent was posted at Nimtita railway station.”

Two of the 10 party workers accompanying the minister have been seriously injured and admitted to the Jangipur hospital, the police said.

Abu Taher Khan, president of the Murshidabad unit of the Trinamul, said: “It is unbelievable that a gentleman and popular politician like Jakir Hossain could have enemies who would try to kill him. We have requested the police to arrest the accused as soon as possible.”
