On Thursday (February 18), Trinamool president of Khandaghosh block Aparthib Islam lodged a written complaint against Soumitra with the district magistrate and superintendent of police. He alleged that Soumitra had suggested looting the votes of BJP workers and supporters at a public meeting in Khandaghosh.

Aparthib claimed, “Soumitra Khan said that the BJP will not allow the Trinamool candidate to get more than 30,000 votes in this year's assembly polls. The people of BJP will be rigging during the polls, and that is what the people of Trinamool Congress have to watch.”

“It is amazing how Soumitra, being an MP, can say from the public meeting about the vote looting. It is illegal to win votes by rigging or to announce or incite vote rigging. With this announcement, the MP himself has done the illegal thing by trying to derail the electoral system,” he added.

Aparthib said he would also complain to the Central Commission about Soumitra's announcement so that after the announcement of the voting schedule, the BJP people in the fragmented assembly constituency cannot terrorize and loot the votes in the booths.

Khandaghosh MLA Nabin Chandra Bagh said, “It has become clear from Soumitra's announcement that the BJP has looted votes and seized power in various states including Tripura and Assam. In the same way, the BJP is trying to seize power in Bengal by looting votes. '' Nabin Chandra said that he had informed the top leadership of the Trinamool about Soumitra's threat. They have also started the process of taking action in this regard.
