PM Modi virtually address convocation program of Visva-Bharati today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually took part in the convocation programme of Visva-Bharati on Friday (February 19).he addressed the programme via video conferencing.

The prime minister is the chancellor of the Visva-Bharati University which is located in West Bengal's Birbhum district. While addressing the convocation programme, Modi said, "The Visva-Bharati is a gift of Gurudev to the people of India. This is the pride of the country, this organization is the craftsman to build real people. Visva-Bharati is the heart of Sanskrit education."

Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank'and West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhakhar also attended the convocation in person.

The programme took place at 'Amra Kunja' (the Mangogrove) inSantiniketan campus.However, no student was seen at the convocation of Visva-Bharati. The teachers and professors were present at the event.

Visva-Bharati is the oldest central university in the country. In May 1951, Visva Bharati was declared to be a Central University and an institution of national importance by an act of Parliament.
