Former IPS officer Humayun Kabir joins TMC

Chandannagar Commissionerate Police Commissioner Humayun Kabir resigned from his post on February 1. After his resignation, there was speculation that he might join the TMC. His wife Anindita Das Kabir is a member of the Trinamool Congress.
 

Former IPS Humayun Kabir joined the TMC at a public meeting of Trinamool supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in Kalna on Tuesday (February 9).

Minister of State and President of East Burdwan District Trinamool Congress Swapan Debnath handed over the party flag to him on the occasion. According to sources, Humayun will contest the upcoming assembly elections as a Trinamool candidate.

At the beginning of the meeting, Humayun Kabir spoke before the Chief Minister. He praised Mamata Banerjee and said, "I have seen with my own eyes the way Mamata Banerjee has been beside the people of Bengal during their good and bad times. The experience of working with her is extremely pleasurable. I am overwhelmed by her inspiration.”

After joining the TMC, Humayun Kabir slammed the BJP. He said, 'An outside party has come and is trying to create division among the culture-minded people of West Bengal. The BJP wants to seize power by division. The people of West Bengal will answer them. We firmly believe that our Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will return to power.”

It may be mentioned that Humayun Kabir had 4 months left in his service at the time of resignation. He resigned for personal reasons, sources said.

Meanwhile, the opposition was vocal in accusing Humayun Kabir of already working for the TMC. Even before the election, the commission removed him from office.
