Union Home Minister Amit Shah had to cancel his visit to Bengal in view of the blast outside Israel Embassy in New Delhi. So, there were questions as to who will conduct all the meetings that were organized by the BJP.

It was rumored that Amit Shah could be replaced by All India President JP Nadda or Defense Minister Rajnath Singh. But, in the end, it was informed that Union Minister Smriti Irani is coming to Bengal instead of Amit Shah.

Even though Amit Shah is not physically present at the meeting in Dumurjola, he will deliver a virtual speech. Therefore, preparations for installing several giant screens in Dumurjola Stadium are going on in full swing.

Earlier, in the unlocked stage of COVID-19 lockdown, Amit Shah gave a virtual speech to the people of Bengal from Delhi on the occasion of BJP's public relations program. At that time, camps were set up in the districts of the state to listen to Amit Shah's speech.

The sudden cancellation of Shah’s trip has derailed several outreach programmes that the BJP had planned, including the home minister’s visit to the Iskcon temple in Nadia’s Mayapur on Saturday (January 30).

A total of 22 leaders of different political parties, including former state forest minister Rajib Banerjee, was scheduled to join the BJP at Amit Shah’s meeting. Even though Smriti Irani is a Union Minister, it would have been disrespectful for Rajib Banerjee to take over the BJP membership from her.

Under the changed circumstances, Rajib Banerjee and Baishali Dalmiya, Rathin Chakraborty, Prabir Ghoshal, and Parthasarathy Chatterjee are going to Delhi to meet Amit Shah. It is expected that the 5 TMC leaders will join the BJP today.
