AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi's Kolkata rally cancelled after police refuse permission

AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi's Kolkata scheduled rally on Thursday (February 25) has been cancelled after the police refused permission. 

Party leader Zameerul Hasan said, “We had applied 10 days back for permission. But today we were informed by the police that they will not permit us to hold the rally. This is a game plan of the ruling TMC. We will discuss and soon announce a fresh date.”

Asaduddin Owaisi's rally was supposed to take place in Metiabruz area of Kolkata on Thursday. this area falls in the parliamentary constituency represented by TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee.

However, the police have not commented anything about this incident and the ruling TMC have denied involvement.

Senior TMC MP Saugata Roy said, “We have no role in permitting a rally organized by AIMIM which is nothing but a proxy of the BJP in Bengal.”

Asaduddin Owaisi and the AIMIM come to West Bengal after securing a good result in the Bihar election. The party won five of the 20 seats it contested and got14.28 percent of the votes in those seats.
