Andhra Pradesh, Telangana Weather LATEST Update: IMD has issued heads-up. A low-pressure system and a trough in the Bay of Bengal will bring moderate to heavy rains to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana for the next six days

Rains to lash AP & Telangana for 6 days

A low-pressure system formed in the northwest Bay of Bengal. It is now over North Odisha and Jharkhand. The weather department says it will move towards remote parts of Odisha by Tuesday. This has already caused rain in Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema. Sativada in Vizianagaram district got the highest rainfall at 4.95 cm. Officials have warned fishermen to stay off the sea due to strong winds and thunderstorms on the North Andhra coast.

IMD issues alert for Telugu states

The IMD predicts light to moderate rains for both states from August 25 to 30, with some heavy spells. This is due to a trough and a moisture-filled southwest monsoon. Humidity is high—85% in Telangana and North Andhra, and 60-75% in Coastal-Rayalaseema. From August 25 to 28, AP, Yanam, and Rayalaseema will see thunderstorms and strong winds of 40-50 km/h, gusting to 60 km/h.

Telangana: Sudden showers expected

On Tuesday, Telangana will have cloudy skies. The mix of sun and humidity will trigger sudden, five-minute bursts of heavy rain. People in North Telangana must be alert and avoid standing under trees. The IMD forecasts winds of 30-40 km/h and a max temperature of 33°C. The rains will likely reduce from August 26.

Andhra Pradesh will see a mix of clouds and sun on August 25. Light to moderate rains are expected in North and Coastal Andhra. Rayalaseema will have clouds but might get less rain. Coastal winds will be around 37 km/h. The IMD has warned tourists at beaches not to venture deep into the sea due to strong waves. The max temperature will be around 35°C.
