The sources said that the exercise involved the synergised application of surveillance and firepower capabilities of the Artillery and the Infantry in close coordination with Special Forces, Aviation and Central Armed Police Forces deployed in West Kameng and Tawang districts of Arunachal Pradesh.
A few days ago, on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Defence Ministers' Meeting in the national capital, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh had categorically informed his Chinese counterpart General Li Shangfu that the development of relations between the two countries is premised on the prevalence of peace and tranquillity at the borders.
In his meeting, Rajnath Singh reiterated that violation of existing agreements has eroded the entire basis of bilateral relations and disengagement at the border will logically be followed with de-escalation.
It was the first bilateral meeting between two ministers post the Galwan Valley violent clash of June 2020.
It must be noted that a month-long exercise culminated just days before Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar chairs the SCO Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Goa on May 4, wherein his Chinese counterpart Qin Gang is also participating. The two leaders will also hold the bilateral talk on the same day, wherein the issue of the situation along the LAC is also to be discussed.
