"What we have achieved is to show that this strategy will not work with us. And every move will be met resolutely," Army Chief General MM Naravane said.

Sending a stern message to China, Indian Army Chief General MM Naravane on Wednesday said that their strategy of nibbling territory would not succeed with India.General Naravane was pointing towards Beijing's strategy in locations like the South China Sea, where it has expanded its territory without firing a bullet or a loss of life.Speaking at a webinar organised by Vivekananda International Foundation on 'Role of Indian Army in dealing with the contemporary national security challenge', Gen Naravane said, "I think more than anything else what we have achieved is to show that this strategy will not work with us. And every move will be met resolutely."

Talking about Beijing's habit of making changes in the border areas, he said, "China has the habit of creeping forward making very small incremental changes wherein each change by itself was not very big or worthy of a very strong reaction.""And because of the very small incremental moves which were never contested, he (Beijing) has been able to achieve his aims without firing a shot without any loss of life. And what has happened in the South China Sea is a very glaring example of that," the Army chief added. The disengagement process at the north and south banks of Pangong Tso has been completed and the Corps Commanders of two sides met on February 20 to discuss discuss other friction points, including Depsang, Hot-Springs and Gogra. However, nothing concrete emerged from that meeting.
