Indian Army has shared some glimpses of the ongoing 5th edition of joint military exercise KAZIND with Kazakhstan at the Training Node Aisha Bibi in Kazakhstan. 

The exercise is aimed at conditioning troops from both the countries in counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism operations in mountainous and rural scenarios.

The exercise, which will conclude on September 10, provides a shot in the arm to rapidly-growing military and diplomatic ties between the two nations.

A total of 90 soldiers from the Indian Army's Bihar Regiment are participating in the 11-day exercise. The Kazakhstan Army is being represented by a contingent of 120 personnel.

Indian Army spokesperson Col Sudhir Chamoli said both sides are sharing their skills and expertise in the field of counter-terror operations.

The joint exercise reflects the strong resolve of India and Kazakhstan against counter-terrorism, the officer added.

The validation exercise, which will take place on September 8-9, would be a testbed for the soldiers of both armies as they will undergo challenges of actual operations in such scenarios.

The fourth edition of the exercise was held at Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand in September 2019.
