Oscars 2021: Let's take a quick look at shortlisted categorical nominees

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences revealed the shortlisted categories on Wednesday, the final nominations will be unveiled on March 15.

The shortlisted categories included documentary feature, international feature, original song, original score, visual effects, makeup, and hairstyling. The 93rd Oscars will get telecasted live from A.B.C. on April 25., 2021, Sunday. The winners will be announced then.

As per the categories, the names that came first, Tenet (for score and visual effects), Borat Subsequent Moviefilm (for the original song 'Wuhan Flu'), Eurovision Song Contest (for the song), and Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Story (for the score, song, and makeup).

There are many names to be taken under the documentary category, including, 'Collective', 'MLKFBI', Netflix's 'Crip Camp', and 'Dick Johnson is Dead'. The list also includes, 'The Truffle Hunters', 'Time', 'Boys State', 'All In: The Fight for Democracy', about voter suppression, 'Welcome to Chechnya', about Russia's anti-LGBTQ efforts, and '76 Days', about the initial pandemic in Wuhan.

There were 238 qualified titles, but only 15 got selected for the final run. Bryan Fogel's directorial documentary about the Jamal Khashoggi assassination, 'The Dissident' missed its chance, whereas Fogel's Icarus won an Academy Award last year.

93 countries participated in the international feature, but a list of 15 names have been shortlisted, among which, Romania's Collective, France's Two of Us, Denmark's Another Round, Mexico's I'm No Longer Here, Chile's The Mole Agent, Hong Kong's Better Days, Iran's Sun Children and Guatemala's La Llorona. The Korean American film Minari couldn't make it to the list.

For the Original Song category, along with Wuhan Flu, the shortlisted nominees are, 'Turntables,' from All In: The Fight for Democracy, Leslie Odom, Jr.'s 'Speak Now,' from One Night in Miami..., John Legend's 'Never Break,' from Giving Voice and H.E.R.'s 'Fight for You,' from Judas and the Black Messiah. But, Justin Timberlake's 'Just Sing' got cut from the list.
