Varun Dhawan, Kiara Advani, Anil Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, Maniesh Paul and Prajakta Koli-starrer 'Jug Jugg Jeeyo', which was released on Friday, has failed the Monday test at the box office. If the collection of any film on the first Monday of its release is less than 50 per cent in comparison with its Sunday collection, then it is believed that the audience has started rejecting the film after initial interest. Jug Jugg Jeeyo's early figures on Monday are considered a big setback for Dharma Productions, the makers of the film and its distributors, Viacom 18.

'Jug Jugg Jeeyo' earned a stellar collection on Saturday and Sunday after collecting less than expected on the day of release. Its collection of the first weekend was more than Akshay Kumar's film 'Bachchan Pandey' released this year and according to the collection of the first three days of release, the film 'Jug Jugg Jeeyo' also managed to be included in the top five films of this year. But, Monday brought bad news for the makers of the film. According to the early figures of Monday, the collection of the film 'Jug Jugg Jeeyo' has fallen by about 70 per cent compared to Sunday.

After earning Rs 9.28 crore on the first day, the film 'Jug Jugg Jeeyo', which was released on June 24, earned Rs 12.55 crore, registering a jump of over 35 per cent on the next day. On Sunday, the film's collection increased by more than 20 per cent compared to the previous day and on this day, 'Jug Jugg Jeeyo' collected a collection of Rs 15.10 crore. The first-weekend collection of the film including Sunday's earnings was Rs 36.93 crore, which was more than the first-weekend collection of Rs 36.17 crore of Akshay Kumar's film 'Bachchan Pandey'.

But on the first weekend, Raj Mehta-directed film 'Jug Jugg Jeeyo' did a great job; however, the performance could not continue on its first Monday. According to the initial figures, 'Jug Jugg Jeeyo' earned only Rs 4.80 crore on the first Monday of its release. Till the final figures, even if the film manages to take this figure to Rs 5 crore, the earning is still much less than Sunday's earning of Rs 15.10 crore. The Punjabi flavour of the film is being liked in the Delhi-UP distribution area but the film's collection in other states of the country was badly affected on Monday.

Meanwhile, director Vivek Agnihotri's ' The Kashmir Files', which earned Rs 15.05 crore on the first Monday of its release, holds the record for this year's highest-grossing first Monday so far. After this, Kartik Aryan's film 'Bhool Bhulaiya 2' is at number two, which earned Rs 10.75 crore. Of all the Hindi films released this year, these are the only two films that earned more than Rs 10 crore on the first Monday at the box office. According to the earnings of the first Monday, Alia Bhatt-starrer 'Gangubai Kathiawadi' is at number three, which earned Rs 8.19 crore on this day.
