Both Kartik and Johar have refrained from commenting on Dostana 2 controversy. According to Times Of India, Kartik had an ugly fight with his co-star Janhvi Kapoor, and their friendship reportedly ended in January.

The TOI report further states that Kartik was genuinely affected by his sudden split with Janhvi that prompted him to walk up to Collin D'Cunha to tell him to scrap the film. It was said, Janhvi and Kartik were not on talking terms during this time (Earlier this year). According to the report, Kartik also asked the filmmakers to drop Janhvi from the film. And in exchange, he was ready to adjust his fees for Dostana 2.
