Kangana Ranaut starrer had faced controversy as soon as the trailer released on 14th August last year. The film faced major controversy in Punjab.
Concerns were raised over the portrayal of Sikh militant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale in the trailer, where he was depicted as being aligned with Indira Gandhi. This depiction upset many viewers.
In response, the Delhi unit of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) issued a legal notice to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The notice, signed by Delhi unit chief Paramjit Singh Sarna, urged the board to halt the film’s release, alleging that it misrepresented the Sikh community and encouraged hostility.
