In her complaint, Sonali Phogat said that the theft took place when she was in Chandigarh. There were CCTV cameras in the house, but the thieves took the digital video recorder (DVR) that contained footage, police said.

The report listed her stolen items that included Rs. 10 lakhs cash, silverware, silver pot and gold, a licensed revolver of .22 mm with 8 cartridges. HTM Station House Officer (SHO) Sukhjit said that the police are investigating the theft case.
