Ravi Shastri gets vaccinated for COVID-19 in Ahmedabad

Ravi Shastri is the reigning head coach of Team India. He has been associated with Team India since 2017 and is scheduled to stay associated with it until the 2021 ICC World T20. He has become one of the first Indian cricketers to get vaccinated for COVID-19.

Team India head coach Ravi Shastri has become one of the first Indian cricketers to get vaccinated for COVID-19. He received his first dosage of the same in Ahmedabad, where the team is currently stationed for its ongoing four-Test series, for the Anthony de Mello Trophy, against England.

Shastri, aged 58, received the same at the Apollo Hospital, while he thanked the hospital management for their support and co-operation. "Got the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Thank you to the amazing medical professionals & scientists for empowering India Flag of India against the pandemic. Extremely impressed with the professionalism shown by Kantaben & her team at Apollo, Ahmedabad in dealing with COVID-19 vaccination," he wrote on Twitter.

Meanwhile, no other Indian cricketer has been vaccinated as of now. Also, the Board of Control for Cricket in India is yet to confirm which other cricketers would be getting the shot for the same in the coming days.(Image courtesy: BCCI)

Earlier, BCCI had stated that it would make it a priority for the Indian cricketers to get vaccinated as soon as possible. It had also said that it would request the Indian government would help its cricketers get vaccinated at the earliest, putting them under a special category.(Image courtesy: BCCI)

Along with Shastri, fellow former Indian cricket Sandip Patil also got his vaccine shot for the same in Mumbai.
