India produces the best and first
The pair of Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah managed an unbeaten stand of 89 for the ninth wicket. Consequently:
- It was the best ninth-wicket partnership for India in England and overseas, going past the previous best of 66 between Kapil Dev and Madan Lal here in 1982 and Kiran More-V Raju's 77 in Melbourne, 1991.
- Furthermore, it was the first time in this century that the number nine and ten batsmen for India scored 25-plus each in a Test outside Asia.

England scripts an unwanted
The English openers were dismissed for ducks. As a result, it was the first time they did so in an innings of a home Test, besides being the sixth overall instance.

Bumrah loves to get rid of Root
Bumrah got rid of Root for the fifth time in his Test career. Consequently, Root became his joint-most victim in the format, along with Pat Cummins.

Sam Curran joins England's unwanted list
Curran fell for unfortunate ducks twice in the Test, in both innings. Consequently:
- It was a king pair for him, and he became the fourth Englishman to do so after William Attewell, Ernie Haynes and James Anderson.
- He is also the fifth king pair against India after Gary Troup, Adam Gilchrist, Javed Omar and Anderson.
- He is also the youngest in the 21st century to get a king pair.

Indian spinners fails for the second time
The Indian spinners did not claim a wicket in the two Tests played in the series so far. It is only the second time in India's Test history that it did so after against Pakistan in 1989-90 at Karachi and Faisalabad.

Root's ton in vain

Virat Kohli joins Lord's honour board and overtakes Clive Lloyd
- It was Kohli's maiden Test win at Lord's as the skipper. As a result:

- He also registered the most wins as a captain in the format (37), going past Clive Lloyd of Windies.

Mohammad Siraj rules at Lord's
Siraj finished with figures of 8/126 in this Test. Meanwhile, it was the best bowling figure by an Indian in a Lord's Test, going past Dev's 8/168 in 1982.

KL Rahul scripts a special
Rahul's century in the first innings helped India earn the win. Moreover, it was only the fourth instance for India as an opener. At the same time, he became only the second Indian opener whose century in a Test outside Asia helped India win, with the other three cases coming from Sunil Gavaskar.
