KL Rahul recently underwent surgery for acute appendicitis and has been recovering ever since the Indian Premier League 2021. He has been included in the Indian Test squad for the upcoming England tour but is subject to fitness clearance.

Indian wicketkeeper-batsman KL Rahul continues to recover from the surgery he underwent for acute appendicitis last month. He had been diagnosed with the same during the 2021 Indian Premier League while leading Punjab Kings and was momentarily ruled out.

Back then, it was revealed that Rahul could take around three-four weeks to recover and start training. Meanwhile, it seems he is on the road to a swift recovery and is likely to be cleared for travel to England next month for the ICC World Test Championship final against New Zealand, followed by the five Tests against the host in August.

"He is doing fine and has recovered well as far as I know. He should be travelling to England with the team. There is still time, about a month before the start of the World Test Championship final against New Zealand and another one-and-a-half month before the start of five-Test series against England. The Indian team has done this before too, taken injured Wriddhiman Saha to Australia last year and made him do rehab with the team," a source was quoted as saying to IANS.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India is yet to announce if Rahul would indeed be travelling to England, who is subject to fitness clearance. He recently shared a picture of himself along with his dogs at his home, as he captioned it, "Healing ..".

Rahul has not played Test cricket since the 2019 Windies tour. He was a part of the squad during the Australia tour earlier this year but did not feature in a single game. To date, he has scored 2,006 runs in the format in 36 matches at an average of 34.6.NOTE: Asianet News humbly requests everyone to wear masks, sanitise, maintain social distancing and get vaccinated as soon as eligible.
