This was the Mumbai Indians' second win of the season in three games, as it has risen to the top spot in the 2021 Indian Premier League table. Meanwhile, Sunrisers Hyderabad suffered its second loss of the season, thus dropping to the bottom of the table.

In what turned out to be an interesting but yet one-sided encounter, defending champion Mumbai Indians trumped former champion Sunrisers Hyderabad by 13 runs in Match 9 of the 2021 Indian Premier League at the MA Chidambaram (Chepauk) Stadium in Chennai on Saturday. While wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock did it with the bat, spinner Rahul Chahar and pacer Trent Boult did their part with the ball to ensure another memorable win for MI.
