Kolkata Knight Riders is a former two-time champion of the Indian Premier League. Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan has owned the franchise since IPL’s inception in 2008. KKR managed to finish fifth in IPL 2020, while it has won and lost a game in IPL 2021 so far.

Former Indian Premier League champion Kolkata Knight Riders was off to a winning start in IPL 2021, beating Sunrisers Hyderabad by ten runs. However, in the next game on Tuesday, it lost to defending champion Mumbai Indians by a similar margin.The loss was a surprise because KKR was in an excellent position to chase it down after the openers gave a healthy start. However, barring the openers, none of the others could score adequately or even get into double figures.

Following the loss, KKR team owner and renowned Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan apologised to his fans for his side’s howler. “Disappointing performance, to say the least. @KKRiders apologies to all the fans!” he wrote on Twitter.
