Royal Challengers Bangalore outlasted Mumbai Indians by 54 runs in the IPL 2021 tie in Dubai, thanks to Harshal Patel's hat-trick. As a result, quite a few records were scripted.

Defending champion Mumbai Indians (MI) suffered yet another embarrassing defeat, as it was outlasted by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by a considerable margin of 54 runs in Match 39 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday. As pacer Harshal Patel claimed a hat-trick to floor MI, some records came tumbling.

Kohli joins a notable list
Kohli completed his 10,000th run in Twenty20 cricket. As a result, he has become only the second batter after Chris Gayle to do the same across formats, i.e. T20, List-A and First-Class.

Harshal enters history book with hat-trick
- Harshal became the third RCB player to achieve the feat with the hat-trick after Samuel Badree and Praveen Kumar.
- He is the fourth uncapped bowler to claim an IPLhat-trick after Shreyas Gopal, Pravin Tambe and Ajit Chandila.
- He has become the joint-most wicket-taker by an uncapped Indian in the tournament in a season (23*), along with his RCB teammate, Yuzvendra Chahal (2015).

With this emphatic win over RCB:

Match summary
Winning the toss, MI invited RCB to bat first, as the latter posted a competitive total of 165/6, thanks to emphatic twin knocks from Virat Kohli (51) and Glenn Maxwell (56). In reply, although Rohit Sharma managed 43, the other batsmen in the side failed to contribute significantly, while Harshal's hat-trick left no room for MI to bounce back, thus losing by 54 runs.
