Rajasthan Royals was pummeled by Kolkata Knight Riders as it suffered a massive 86-run defeat in IPL 2021 on Thursday. While RR was knocked out and KKR virtually sealed its playoffs berth, records were scripted.

Former champion Rajasthan Royals was harshly knocked out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 after fellow former champion Kolkata Knight Riders pounded it by a considerable margin of 86 runs in Match 54 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Thursday. As a result, KKR is virtually assured of its playoffs berth, while a couple of records were succeeded by RR.

A lowest for RR
RR could manage just 17/4 in the Powerplay. It is its second-lowest in the phase to date, with the lowest being 14/1 against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in 2009.

Lowest for the seventh wicket to fall
RR lost its seventh wicket at 35, the lowest to date in the IPL, surpassing RCB's 42/7 against KKR in 2017.

Match summary
RR won the toss and elected to bowl, as KKR posted a challenging total of 171/4, thanks to Shubman Gill's 58. In reply, it was pacers Shivam Mavi and Lockie Ferguson, whose four and three-wicket hauls each rattled RR, while KKR cruised to a mammoth 86-run win.
