IPL 2020: Suryakumar Yadav's proficiency helps MI beat RCB, as here are the records scripted

This was Mumbai Indians' eighth win of the tournament, in 12 matches, as they claim back the top spot in the table. Meanwhile, this was Royal Challengers Bangalore's fifth loss of the competition in the same number of matches as MI, as they needed just a win to virtually seal their playoffs spot.

Defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) came up with a captivating performance, as they tamed Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in Match 48 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020. Being played at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, MI scripted the win by five wickets, as they have risen to the top spot of the table. Devdutt Padikkal joins a select list: Padikkal played a fine knock of 74 tonight. As a result, he has now become the third uncapped Indian batsman to score four half-centuries in the debut season, after Shreyas Iyer (2015) and Shikhar Dhawan (2008). He is also the second uncapped Indian to aggregate over 400 runs in the debut season, after Iyer in 2015. Jasprit Bumrah joins the 100-club: Bumrah managed to get rid of his national skipper Virat Kohli tonight. Consequently, he claimed his 100th wicket in the tournament to date, as he has become the 16th player to enter the 100-wicket club. It was also his 200th T20 wicket. Bumrah claims the most in 17th: During the 17th over of the RCB innings, Bumrah managed to claim a couple of wickets, besides bowling a maiden, as he finished with figures of 314. Suryakumar Yadav nails it in Abu Dhabi: For MI, it was Suryakumar, whose yielding knock of unbeaten 79 allowed them to register the win with ease, while it was also his best IPL performance to date. Meanwhile, he also became the highest scorer this season at the venue of Abu Dhabi, as he has scored more than 320 runs, so far.

The decision turned out to be a fair one, as RCB posted a par total of 1646, courtesy openers' Josh Philippe (33) and Padikkal (74), while Bumrah's 314 made it difficult for the RCB batsmen to steer past. In reply, it was Suryakumar's unbeaten knock of 79 that allowed them to get home and win by five wickets, with just three balls to spare, thus reclaiming the top spot.
