Mumbai Indians have qualified for the final, for the sixth time, having finished as runners-up just once, besides winning the title on record four occasions. As for Delhi Capitals (DC), this is the fifth time they are featuring in the playoffs, having never reached the final before.

In what turned out to be a one-sided high-scoring encounter, defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) drubbed Delhi Capitals by 57 runs in Qualifier 1 of the 2020 Indian Premier League (IPL) playoffs, in Dubai, on Thursday. With this win, MI have qualified for the final for the sixth time in the tournament's history, while DC still have a chance at Qualifier 2. Meanwhile, let us have a look at the records that were scripted.

MI score highest during powerplay: MI batsmen were ruthless right from the start, as they managed to score 631 during the powerplay. As a result, it was their biggest score during the phase this season, while their previous best happened to be 591, against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

MI score most boundaries at death: MI posted a challenging total of 2005, which included 27 boundaries. Owing to those boundaries, they have now hit the most fours and sixes this season. While they have hit 55 fours and 56 sixes, the next best happens to be by Rajasthan Royals (RR), who hammered 41 fours and 39 sixes.

Rohit Sharma scripts unwanted, Ravichandran Ashwin scalps special: Rohit's grey patch continued, as he was dismissed for a golden duck by Ashwin. Consequently, he now has the joint-most ducks in the tournament (13), along with Parthiv Patel and Harbhajan Singh. Meanwhile, Ashwin has become the third bowler, after Umesh Yadav and Jofra Archer, to dismiss him for a golden duck.

Suryakumar Yadav records some unique ones: Suryakumar played a commendable innings of 51 tonight. As a result, he scripted a couple of unique records. While he became the first uncapped player to play 100 IPL games, he is also the first uncapped to score more than 2,000 runs in the tournament to date. Incredible!

DC script a few hated ones: The three batsman of DC's top-order could not put a single run on the board, as they departed for ducks. In the process, DC have now lost the most wickets in the very over this season (9). Next to them are MI and Chennai Super Kings (CSK), who have lost three each. Also, this was the lowest score at which the first three wickets were lost in the tournament to date. The previous instance was 13 for Deccan Chargers and Kochi Tuskers Kerala (KTK). Meanwhile, this was the second occasion of the top-three batsmen from a side falling for ducks, with the first being the Chargers match.

Jasprit Bumrah records a couple of special ones: MI pacer Bumrah finished with figures of 414. Consequently, he has now become the Indian bowler to claim the most wickets in a season. While he has claimed 27 so far, he has gone past Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who had claimed 26 in 2017. Also, he has now registered the joint-second best figures in the playoffs, along with Dhawal Kulkarni, while the best happens to be 413 by Doug Bollinger.

Match summary: Winning the toss, DC skipper Shreyas Iyer opted to bowl first. However, the decision did not go down well, as Quinton de Kock (40), Suryakumar (51), Ishan Kishan (55*) and Hardik Pandya (37*) played combustible knocks each, leading MI to a respectable total of 2005. In reply, the MI pacers were right at it in the powerplay itself, while Marcus Stoinis's knock of 65 was not enough to see them through. As Bumrah bowled a terrific spell of 414, MI sailed to a healthy win by 57 runs, thus booking their place in the final.
