Indian cricket is rising to the next level with each passing year, as new cricketing talents are unveiled every season. Furthermore, the arrival of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has made it even prominent, as young Indian talents are coming into the limelight more often.

The ongoing season of the IPL, too, has been no stranger to the same. Meanwhile, former England legend Michael Vaughan has had his eyes on a young Indian talent that is creating fireworks in the continuing edition. He happens to be none other than Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) talented young batsman Devdutt Padikkal.

“I am pretty sure, in the next few years, we will see plenty of him. Not just in the IPL, he will get international colours. Whether it’s very soon, or within the next year, I am sure. He’s just got the gift in the game. He can cope with the pressure,” Vaughan was quoted as saying to Cricbuzz.

“He has got a nice awareness of the game situation. He plays spin nicely, which you would expect. He also plays the quicks with calmness and control. Unfortunately, for the rest of the world, India may have found another batsman,” Vaughan added.

Padikkal has had a glorious season so far, scoring 417 runs in 12 matches at an average of 34.75 and a strike-rate of 128.70, including four half-centuries. He is their second-highest run-scorer this season after skipper Virat Kohli, besides being the fifth-most in the tournament.

Padikkal has been impressive in the domestic circuit as well. Playing for Karnataka, he has scored 907 runs in 29 First-Class innings, besides scoring 650 runs in 15 List-A innings and 997 runs in 24 T20s. He initially rose to prominence while playing for Bellary Tuskers in the Karnataka Premier League (KPL).
